The gifted elective is an enrichment based class that meets five days a week. Students who take this class do not take the normal grade-level elective. The class is student centered and project based. Students do not work with a textbook or any predetermined curriculum. Students select projects based on their strengths and interests. Students are expected to meet with me to discuss project requirements and deadlines.
This year, students have elected to work on the following projects:
* Creating a website using Microsoft Frontpage * Using Punch Design Software to build a virtual house * Using Balsa wood to create a 3D model or sculpture * Creating various art projects using charcoal, soft pastels, or color pencils * Creating a stained glass mosaic (as seen below) * Reading a novel * Creative writing (short story or poetry) * Logic puzzles, sudoku puzzles, kakuro puzzles * Researching how computers are built and take apart a computer to see how each part is connected * Creating a fantasy sports league, following player statistics, and using excel to create a variety of spreadsheets * Wood burning * Learning about photography and using a film SLR camera to take several rolls of film * Lino Block Prints
This list continues to grow as students complete current projects.
