CONGRATULATIONS to our MATH STARS!

We are already working extremely hard in math class. Everyone is doing a great job and adjusting well. The following students have earned the award of MATH STARS: CAITLYN COLLINS, JACOB BENE, and ANNE HINGLE.

The MATH STAR award goes to students who show excellent work ethic, complete the homework assigned for the entire week, and/or show excellent progress in Accelerated Math.
Congratulations to these students and continue to work hard. Each of you are off to an excellent start.

Question of the Week: Nov. 17- 21

Each week there will be questions on this site that will be worth bonus points to you if you choose to answer them. You must copy the question on looseleaf paper, answer it in complete sentences and turn it in to me by the end of the week.

This Week's Questions

1. Ana and Mike are grocery shopping for canned soup. Chicken noodle is 2 cans to the right of split pea. Split pea is 4 cans to the right ofvegetable. The vegetable soup is the last can on the left side. To the right of chicken noodle is minestrone. Minestrone is the last can on the right side. What is the fewest number of cans that can be displayed?

Make a drawing to show your answer.

2. The Bodacious Booters played 13 soccer games during their season. Here are the points they scored in each game: 3, 5, 1, 0, 8, 2, 1, 3, 3, 1, 4, 5, 3 . Find the average number of points they scored. Show your work.

COMPUTER LAB Aug 18-22 Decimals

The following activities will reinforce the understanding of decimals.

· Odyssey - Follow Mrs. Schoener's or Ms. Seago's instructions.
· Math Slice: Identify Place Value of Whole Numbers and Decimals - Students will identify the place value of the circled digit.
· AAA Math - Decimal Place Value - The place value is named and the student has to match the digit for that particular place value.
· Order Decimals - Students will place decimal numbers in numerical order.
· ** Where does the number fit? - Students have to decide where to put the given decimal number.
· <, > or = decimals - Students will compare two decimal numbers.
· Ordering Decimals - Students will arrange the decimals in order from least to greatest. You have 12 problems to work on.
· Compare and Order Decimals - Students must save the puppy from the burning apartment by stacking the decimals from least to greatest.

COMPUTER LAB Aug 18-22 Whole Numbers

The following are sites we will work on when in the computer lab. You can use these sites at home for extra practice. Good luck and have fun!

· AAA Math - Adding Expanded to Standard form - Students will have to add the expanded form of the number then type the answer in standard form. Work until you get 15 correct.
· * Cookie Dough - Standard & Word Form Whole Numbers - Students will fill out checks using whole numbers in standard and word form. You must spell the numbers correctly, including the hyphen. Try to get 10 correct then move to the next level. Work on Method 1 and under it click on the 0 - 10,000 then work on Method 2 using 0 - 10,000.
· Who wants to be a Place Value Master? - Students will answer multiple choice questions pertaining to place value, and compare/order numbers.
· Math Slice: Identify Place Value of Whole Numbers and Decimals - Students will identify the place value of the circled digit.
· Number Line - hundreds to ones - Students will have to decide which is the greater number. Then students will round the number to the nearest place value.
· Compare and Order Whole Numbers - Students will put numbers in order from least to greatest. Students will also use the <, >, or = sign to complete the math sentence.
